I’ve spent the bulk of my working career writing, but this is my maiden voyage writing for fun. Oftentimes, I get requests from friends and family. “We’re going to xxx. I know you’ve been there. Do you have any advice?” or “Can you give me the recipe for – or talk me through how to make xxx?” And usually, after I send a response, the recipient tells me I need to start a blog. So, after much procrastination, here I am.
Where to start? My favorite destinations? My favorite foods and recipes? Life advice? Full disclosure, I’m not certain I’m qualified.
Our travels really began over 30 years ago with my husband’s job and his frequent work trips to Italy. Since then, we’ve upped our game every year. Popular destinations on a rotating basis include Lucca, Bologna, London, Paris and our beloved Bruges. In addition, we were between homes from March, 2023, through October, 2024, prompting us to spend the bulk of that time traveling. More on that later.
Cooking and baking has been one of my greatest passions since childhood. I can remember starting with chocolate chip cookies. Since then, I’ve graduated to things like homemade bread, lasagna bolognese, several Italian desserts and fresh pasta. I rarely pass a bookstore without buying a new cookbook. My husband has especially enjoyed hauling them to each new home in the last several years.
I have countless topics running through my head as I type this. Please have patience with this newbie as I figure things out, but I can tell you right now that I’m beyond excited to share so much! And I can only hope it will inspire you to travel, cook and enjoy every minute of this life that goes by way, way too fast.
